Service Description

Domain Backorder Service is meant to help RU-CENTER's partner register a domain upon its release. A backorder request may be submitted for any taken domain in .SU TLD, geodomains and .COM.RU. Applications are received in advance, before the domain release.

RU-CENTER will therefore:

  • keep track of the domain name release date;
  • register domain name in the Registry in case of its release;
  • if registration procedure proves successful:
    • transfer domain ownership to the Partner's client in case of a single backorder request;
    • hold an auction among the persons, if there are two or more domain backorderers. If the Partner won the auction, RU-CENTER will transfer domain ownership to the Partner's client, for which backorder was made.

Service Features

  • Backordered domain registration is held as per Domain Backorder Schedule (Schedule 1/9 to the Multiple Service Contract).
  • The service is valid only for second-level domains in .SU TLD or third-level domain in .COM.RU or geodomain.
  • To obtain the service, all the terms shall be met no later than 3 hours before the domain name release from the Registry.
  • RU-CENTER gives no guarantee that the client will get a domain registration, but undertakes to fulfill all steps required to help in registration of the backordered domain for the Partner.
  • If the Partner has not received a backordered domain registration, the service will not be payable by the Partner.
  • RU-CENTER gives no guarantee that registration of the domain names subjected to court procedure will be delivered.

How to Obtain the Service

The order for the "Domain Backorder Service" service is formed by the Partner.

RU-NIC will deliver the service, provided the below terms are met no later than 3 hours before domain name release from the Registry. A Partner shall:

  • form an order to get the service:
    • Log in to "Manage your account" - "Orders: Domains - Register soon-to-release domain" on web server www.nic.ru, or;
    • log in to "My auctions" - "Backordered Domains Auction" - "Make order" on web server https://www.nic.ru/auction/, or;
    • enter "Soon-to-expire domains" on web server https://www.nic.ru/auction/.

    A Partner forming the order shall specify his/her contract number (NIC-REG) with RU-CENTER and administrative password.

  • The order shall be deemed a Partner's consent with the Domain Backorder Schedule (Schedule 1/9 to the Multiple Service Contract) and confirms Partner's readiness to make a deposit. The size of the deposit is USD30, including tax.

    The deposit will be reserved on the Partner's contract personal account immediately upon RU-CENTER obtains a service order. The order becomes thereby ready-to-process.
    How to Recharge Personal Account

If within three months since order receipt by RU-CENTER the order has a pending status (not all the above terms are fulfilled), the order will be cancelled.

Backorder Auction Rules

If two or more customers placed ready-to-process backorder requests for the same domain and this domain was registered upon its release, this domain will go into an auction.

  • The auction is private - only for the customers, who made backorder requests'.
  • RU-CENTER will notify its Partners of the auction starting moment, its terms and conditions via e-mail and by placing information on web server https://www.nic.ru/auction/ (section "My auctions" - "Backordered Domains Auction" - "Auctions: Active"). The clients, for which the Partner made a backorder will also receive notifications via e-mail and have access to the respective information on web server https://www.nic.ru/auction/ (section "My auctions" - "Backordered Domains Auction" - "Auctions: Active"), who logged in by their contract form.
  • At the auction starting moment all bidders' stakes will be automatically set to 30 conventional money units. A conventional money unit is equal to 1 (one) US dollar. The stakes of the bidders, who were first and second to have made their orders ready-to-process by the auction start, will be deemed the Best Bid and Second Bid respectively.
  • An Auction Winner is selected by auction closing results. If an Auction Winner fails to pay for the domain within the set period, the client, who offered the Second Bid will be deemed an Auction Winner to have the right to buy this domain.
  • All bidders are notified about auction results by e-mail.
  • Partners other than Auction Winners will have their deposits released and their backorders void.

Auction Provision Terms:

  • Publishing domain auction notifications on web server https://www.nic.ru/auction/ at least 24 hours prior to auction start.
  • The auction period is at least 3 (three) calendar days.
  • Each Auction Winner is expected to effect payment within 10 calendar days.

Domain Ownership Transfer

If RU-CENTER received a single backorder, no auction will be held. RU-CENTER will thus transfer domain ownership to the Partner's client upon domain registration in the Registry. In this case the service is paid from the deposit amount, and the remaining deposit part is released from the Partner's personal account.

If an auction is held and the Partner becomes the Auction Winner, RU-CENTER will transfer the domain name to the Partner's client no later than 3 (three) business days upon domain payment.

Domain Registration Failure

A backorder will stay in force at a domain registration failure due to one of the following reasons:

  • domain was not released on the set date of domain deletion from the Registry (Domain registration is renewed by its owner);
  • RU-CENTER could not register a domain in the Registry upon its release (RU-CENTER's application was not the first one among those submitted by other Registrars).

A Partner may leave his/her order up to a new date of domain release or delete it on his/her web server https://www.nic.ru/auction/.

How to Cancel the Service

A backorder may be deleted by the Partner, the deposit will thereby be released from the personal account.

The Partner may delete the order as follows:

  • If the order has a pending status:
    • on web server https://www.nic.ru/auction/ ("My auctions" - "Backordered Domains Auction" - "Orders: Pending orders");
    • on web server www.nic.ru (section "Manage your account" - "Orders: Processing queue, order removal").
  • If the order is ready-to-process:
    • on web server https://www.nic.ru/auction/ (section "My auctions" - "Backordered Domains Auction" - "Orders: Active Orders").

The order may be deleted in one of the following cases:

  • the order has a pending status (pending payment or signing the contract);
  • the order is ready-to-process, but the domain release data has not come yet;
  • the domain has not been released on its deletion date (domain registration has been renewed by its owner);
  • the domain has been released on its deletion date, but RU-CENTER could not register a domain name in the Registry, whereas RU-CENTER's application was not the first one among those submitted by other Registrars.
