Changes in .РФ Domains Sunrise Registration Procedure

On November 26, 2009 the Coordination Center for TLD RU at its session reviewed .РФ domains reservation process and deems it expedient to supplement the existing "Domains Sunrise Registration Provision in .РФ TLD" with the below provisions with a view to protect trademark holders' legitimate interests:


  1. only the trademarks registered not later than March 25, 2009 are subject to domains sunrise reservation;
  2. if two or more trademark holders applied for the domain standing for trademarks with identical verbal designation, but registered under different classes of International Classification of Goods and Services, further registration of this domain will be provided for the trademark with an earlier registration date;
  3. any issues for domains reservation with regard to trademarks, including well-known ones, registered after March 25, 2009, will be reviewed by the dedicated Assessment Board of the Coordination Center.

Due to the above changes, RU-CENTER will independently review the applications submitted by our clients for registration of domain names in РФ TLD against the new revision of the Sunrise Registration Provision, and, if they are found compliant with the Sunrise Registration Terms, such domains will be reserved for further registration.

The above reservation serves as an entry of a preliminary record into РФ TLD Registry about domain and its registrant, to prevent domain use by unauthorized persons. Applications non-compliant with the terms of Provision will undergo review by the Assessment Board.

New applications for .РФ domains reservation will be processed under the latest updated procedure for receipt and processing of applications.
