About Web-Forwarding

This service will point your new domain name to the existing web address that may be long or hard to remember. Enabling Web forwarding you or your company will have a constant web address that will remain unchanged, if you switch to another provider. This service will also be very helpful, if you already have your web site and would like to register an additional name for it.

Web forwarding redirects the HTTP-request to your domain name to the web page with the other address. All users who typed your domain name in their web browser box (or used a link) will be redirected to the web page you specified in the settings.

The service may be enabled only if your domain is delegated. Domain delegation would require at least two DNS servers to communicate to the Internet users the info about your domain (zone). You can place the domain info on our DNS servers (Primary-Standard, Primary-Auto, Secondary), or on your provider's DNS servers.

URL, where domain requests are redirected to, may be reconfigured in 'Manage your account → Review and update data'.

We suggest two Web forwarding options (you may switch them in process of service delivery):

Query Redirection

With this option the visitor is immediately redirected to the web page you specified in the settings. There are no frames created and your visitor sees in the address bar the URL of the page he has been redirected to (instead of the redirecting domain name).

URL Masking with Frames

If you wish to hide from the URL browser box of your visitors' browsers the real web page address, where the user is redirected to, you should choose this option. The web page will be located inside the frame and the visitors reaching link results inside this frame will see in the URL address the domain name, they have been redirected from.

Keep in mind though that if you use this forwarding option and wish to set links inside your web page to other resources, you should indicate in link tag «target=_top». Otherwise someone else's web page will also be opened inside your frame, and the visitor will see your domain name in his URL browser box.

Please, see below the correct link example for this case:

<a href="http://www.nic.ru/" target="_top">RU-CENTER</a>

You should also bear in mind that the real address of the web page the visitor is redirected to, though hidden in the URL line, may still be easily tracked by any visitor.

If you order the Web forwarding service and do not use the Primary-Auto and Secondary you should make an appropriate record into zone file on the primary DNS server for your domain.
