Sunrise Registration Terms

Under Section 2.1.1. of the РФ TLD Sunrise Registration Provisions (referred to hereinafter as the Provisions) , for a domain name registration within the Sunrise registration period, the Registrar shall verify the user's eligibility for a Sunrise domain registration.

Under Section 3.1. of the Provisions, the Sunrise registration shall be performed in respect of a domain name, which corresponds to the verbal designation of a trademark registered with regard to any goods or services, provided the following requirements are met:

• The trademark should be registered by the relevant authority, viz. by the Federal Executive Authority for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), or by the relevant authority on the basis of an international agreement (World Intellectual Property Organization, WIPO)).
• The trademark should have an effective status as of the date of filing the application to the Registrar, its effect should also cover the Russian Federation territory (for any trademarks registered under the Madrid International Trademark Registration System, the Russian Federation has to be specified in the Countries or Designations sections: RU/Russian Federation).
• The trademark shall be registered in the applicant's name or the applicant shall have the exclusive trademark rights alienated to (even as far as any goods or services are concerned, for instance, under an International Classification of Goods class), i.e. the applicant is to be specified in the Rightholder field or in the Holder of the Registration field, for an international registration.
  At the same time, any person entitled to use the trademark under a license agreement SHALL NOT BE ELIGIBLE for the Sunrise registration.
• Under the laws in effect, a trademark may consist of any verbal, graphic, volumetric or other symbols or combinations thereof. The Sunrise registration in the РФ TLD shall be performed in respect of any domain name, which corresponds to the verbal designation, only. The domain name registered should either reproduce in full the verbal trademark designation or coincide with the verbal trademark designation upon space deletion or upon space replacement with hyphens.
• No domain names corresponding to the trademarks, which consist of unprotected elements, only, shall be eligible for the Sunrise registration. The verbal trademark designation shall include at least one protected element.

We would like our applicants to notice that the Russian-named trademark holders, only, may register a domain name within the Sunrise registration period.

Under Section 3.3.2. of the РФ TLD Domain Name Registration Provisions, a domain name should meet the following technical requirements:

• The minimum domain name length makes 2 characters (.РФ symbols excluded). The maximum domain name length shall be determined by the representation length. The representation length must not exceed 63 characters (.РФ symbols excluded).
• The domain name shall begin and end with a Cyrillic alphabet letter or numeral.
• The Cyrillic alphabet letters, numerals or hyphens shall serve as intermediate symbols.
