Service Description
Domain Backorder Service is meant to help RU-CENTER clients register a domain upon its release.
A backorder request may be submitted for any taken domain in SU TLD,
geodomains and COM.RU, NET.RU, ORG.RU, PP.RU domains.
Applications are received in advance, before the domain release.
RU-CENTER will therefore:
- keep track of the domain name release date;
- register domain name in the Registry in case of its release;
- if registration procedure proves successful:
- transfer domain ownership to the client in case of a single backorder request;
- hold an auction among its clients, if there are two or more domain backorderers, and transfer domain ownership to the Auction Winner.
Service Delivery Details
The service is delivered as per Domain Backorder Schedule (Addendum to the Service Agreement).
- The service is valid only for second-level domains in SU TLD or third-level
domains in COM.RU, NET.RU, ORG.RU, PP.RU or geodomain.
- To obtain the service, all the terms shall be met no later than 3 hours before the domain name release from the Registry.
- RU-CENTER gives no guarantee that the client will get a domain registration, but undertakes to fulfill all steps required to help in registration of the backordered domain for the client.
- If the client has not received a backordered domain registration, the service will not be payable by the client (the deposit will be released from the personal account and may be refunded to the client by his/her official letter).
- RU-CENTER gives no guarantee that registration of the domain names subjected to court procedure will be delivered.
How to Obtain the Service
RU-CENTER will deliver the service, provided the below terms are met no later than 3 hours before domain name release from the Registry. A client shall:
- have a Service Agreement with RU-CENTER in place in written form or as an offer.
How to sign Service Agreement
- make a deposit to the personal account. The deposit size is 30 USD, including taxes.
How to Recharge Personal Account
- Form an order to get the service:
- Log in to "Manage your account" - "Orders" -
"Orders: Domains - Register soon-to-release domain" on web-server www.nic.ru, or;
- log in to "My auctions" - "Released Domains Auction (.SU, third-level domains)" - "Make order"
on web-server auction.nic.ru, or;
- enter "List of Soon-to-Expire Domains" on web-server auction.nic.ru.
If within three months since order receipt by RU-CENTER the order will have a "pending" status (not all the above terms are fulfilled), the order will be cancelled.
Service Cost
If RU-CENTER received a single backorder request, the service fee is USD 23.6 (tax included) for .SU
domains, or USD 17.7 — for .COM.RU, NET.RU, ORG.RU, PP.RU and geodomains.
If RU-CENTER received two or more domain backorders, the service cost will be determined by the auction
placed among the clients, and be equal to the Best Bid.
An order becomes ready-to-process only upon blocking a USD30 deposit (tax included) on a client's personal account.
Deposit is used:
- for domain payment, if RU-CENTER received a single domain backorder. In this case the service is paid from the deposit amount, and the remaining deposit part is released from the client's personal account.
- as a security made by the bidder to pay for the service, if RU-CENTER received two or more domain backorders and placed an auction. Upon auction closing, the deposit will be withdrawn as a penalty imposed on the Auction Winner, who failed to pay for the domain. In all other cases the deposit will get released.
Backorder Auction Rules
If two or more customers placed ready-to-process backorder requests for the same domain and this domain was registered upon its release, this domain will go into an auction.
- The auction is private - only for the customers, who made backorder requests.
- RU-CENTER will notify its clients of the auction starting moment,
its terms and conditions via e-mail and by placing information on web-server
auction.nic.ru (section "My auctions" - "Released Domains Auction (.SU, third-level domains)" -
"Auctions: active").
- At the auction starting moment all clients' bids will be automatically placed to 30 conventional money units. A conventional money unit is equal to 1 (one) US dollar. The bids of the clients, who were first and second to have made their orders ready-to-process by the auction starting moment, will be deemed the Best Bid and Second Bid respectively.
- An Auction Winner is selected by auction closing results. If an
Auction Winner fails to pay for the domain within the set period, the
client, who offered the Second Bid will be deemed an Auction Winner to
have the right to buy this domain.
- All bidders are notified about auction results by e-mail.
- Clients other than Auction Winners will have their deposits released and their backorders void.
Auction Provision Terms:
- Publishing domain auction notifications on web-server auction.nic.ru at least 24 hours prior to auction start.
- The auction period is at least 3 (three) calendar days.
- Each Auction Winner is expected to effect payment within 10 calendar days.
Domain Ownership Transfer
If RU-CENTER received a single backorder, no auction will be held. RU-CENTER will thus transfer domain ownership to the client upon domain registration in the Registry. In this case the service is paid from the deposit amount, and the remaining deposit part is released from the client's personal account.
In case of an auction, RU-CENTER will transfer the domain name to the Auction Winner no later than 3 (three) business days upon domain payment. In this case the deposit blocked on the Auction Winner's personal account will be released.
Domain Registration Failure
A backorder will stay in force at a domain registration failure due to one of the following reasons:
- domain was not released on the set date of domain deletion from the Registry (Domain registration is renewed by its owner);
- RU-CENTER could not register a domain in the Registry upon its release (RU-CENTER's application was not the first one among those submitted by other Registrars).
A client may leave his/her order up to a new date of domain release or delete it on his/her web-server auction.nic.ru. Upon order deletion, the deposit will be released from the client's personal account.
How to Cancel the Service
A backorder may be deleted by the client, the deposit will thereby be released from the client's personal account.
The order may be deleted as follows:
- If the order has a pending status:
- on web-server auction.nic.ru ("My auctions" -
"Released Domains Auction (.SU, third-level domains)" - "Orders: Orders not ready for processing");
- on web-server www.nic.ru (section "Manage your account" -
"Orders: Processing queue, order removal").
- If the order is ready-to-process:
- on web-server auction.nic.ru
(section "My auctions" - "Released Domains Auction (.SU, third-level domains)" - "Orders: Active Orders").
A client may delete his/her order in one of the following cases:
- pending payment;
- the order is ready-to-process, but the domain release data has not come yet;
- the domain has not been released on its deletion date
(domain registration has been renewed by its owner);
the domain has been released on its deletion date, but RU-CENTER
could not register a domain name in the Registry, whereas RU-CENTER's
application was not the first one among those submitted by other
Registrars.
